Bedside horror as man stabs himself to death

Lee Soong Chin, 56, a former bank officer, of Taman Wangsa Ukay, Kuala Lumpur, was with his wife when she was awaken at 5.40am.

Lee's wife thought that her husband was having a nightmare when she heard the sound of him slapping his own face.

However, she was shocked when she saw him stabbing himself with a knife.

She grabbed the knife and threw it away but at that time, the victim was already dying.

The wife then called their children.

Based on initial investigations, police had ruled out foul play.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Amiruddin Jamaluddin said, "His family said the victim was suffering from severe depression. We are investigating the cause of his depression."

It is learnt that Lee had completed his job contract with a bank in Singapore two months ago.
