58 Year-Old Driver Who Attempted To Bribe Traffic Cops Arrested

On 4 February 2011 at about 10.20 pm , Staff Sergeant Mohd Rizal and Corporal Nur Mohd were patrolling along PIE when they stopped a car driver on suspicion of drink driving before the exit of Clementi Avenue 6. Upon a check, the male driver was found to be driving without a valid licence and insurance coverage, in addition to suspected drink driving.

The driver pleaded with the officers and offered a wad of cash to them in return for letting him off. Staff Sergeant Mohd Rizal and Corporal Nur Mohd firmly rejected the S$4,024 bribe without hesitation.

The driver was then placed under arrest for attempted bribery and the case has since been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
