5 supermarket chains freezing rice prices

FIVE major supermarket chains here have pledged to keep prices stable for some of their house brand products for at least the next six months.

NTUC FairPrice announced on Friday that it will freeze prices of 13 types of housebrand rice for six months, till end August 2011.

This is on top of a previous commitment to freeze prices of the rest of its housebrand products till 31 May 2011.

Sheng Siong too, will be freezing its housebrand rice price for the next six months.

At Giant, the prices of housebrand rice, cooking oil and flour will also remain stable.
