The National Environment Agency (NEA) said it is stepping up its enforcement against littering at the Thaipusam celebrations on Thursday.
Their officers will be on the lookout for litterbugs along the stretch between Sri Srinvasa Perumal Temple at Serangoon Road and Sri Thendayuthapani Temple at Tank Road, where the celebrations will take place.
Anti-littering banners will be prominently displayed in and around the temples and temple officials will be making announcements over the public address system to remind the public not to litter.
Besides apprehending littering offenders, NEA said its officers will also take enforcement action against any illegal hawkers found peddling their wares during the celebrations.
