The officer ended up on the hood of the car and began hitting the windshield with his police handgun but was thrown off the car when the driver placed it in forward and sped away, Cotter said.

The officer, whose name was not released, suffered a strained leg muscle and was treated at Northwest Community Hospital.

Pobyegayev, of the 1000 block of Valley Stream Drive, was arrested a short time later. Cotter said the teen told police that he got scared and sped off because he had cocaine in the vehicle.
