Beijing Guoan pull out of S-League after one season

AFTER their part in one of the worst moments in the S-League's 15-year history, Beijing Guoan have pulled the plug on their participation in the new football season.

The Chinese outfit, who were involved in the infamous mass on-field brawl with the Young Lions last September, confirmed yesterday that they have no intention to sign on for a second season.

Their departure paves the way for a sensational return by one of Singapore's most iconic clubs: Tanjong Pagar United.

The Jaguars, who pulled out of the competition seven years ago owing to financial troubles, are putting together a team for the upcoming season.
