Swiss vandal files appeal

SWISS national Oliver Fricker, who is serving a five-month jail term and waiting to be caned three strokes for beaking into a Singapore depot and spray-painting an MRT train, appealed his sentence on Friday, his lawyer, Derek Kang told Bloomberg News.

Fricker, 32, an IT consultant working in Singapore, was convicted on June 25, after he admitted committing the offences with Lloyd Dane Alexander, a Briton, between May 16 and 17.

Alexander, 29, is still at large.

In sentencing him, Judge See Kee Oon had said: 'This was calculated criminal conduct. He was fully conscious of the criminal nature of the act and must be prepared to face the consequences.' MORE
