A smoke-free Oktoberfest

Smokers at Germany's annual beer festival, Oktoberfest, will be lighting up outside after 61 per cent of voters supported a total smoking ban for dining outlets and beer tents in Bavaria in a referendum on Sunday.

Existing laws allow smokers to light up in beer tents and pubs with smoking rooms. The ban will take effect on Aug 1. MORE
