SINGAPORE - For more than a week, allegations of attempted abductions of children by a woman at Turf City have circulated in cyberspace, and several international schools have sent advisories to parents.
Last night, the police confirmed that investigations so far show the allegations are unsubstantiated.
Assuring the public that there is no established cause for concern, the police have urged the public to immediately stop circulating the misinformation, as this may cause unnecessary alarm.
They also made it clear that they will not hesitate to take action against those who knowingly spread such false information.
Kidnapping for ransom is punishable by death in Singapore.
