S'pore: Jetstar tried not to suck, but they still suck

AIR fares to Melbourne and Auckland are set to tumble when low-cost carrier Jetstar launches services to the cities - its first two long-haul destinations out of Singapore.

Announcing the news in Singapore on Wednesday, Jetstar's chief executive officer Bruce Buchanan said that with strong traffic between Singapore and Melbourne, and untapped potential on the Singapore-Auckland route which he described as 'particularly underserved for some time now', Jetstar is confident it can fill the 303 seats on its new Airbus 330-200 aircraft.

And then they managed to get themselves in this mess all in one fell swoop:

Jetstar's flight to Penang on June 5 was due to fly at 7.00am, but was delayed until 4.45pm.

A victim of this disaster said, "The delay was announced 15 minutes before takeoff. The announcement was very soft and many people didn't hear it. Also, the screen didn’t display anything about the delay."
